The BIRDLAND is one of the most traditional jazz clubs in Germany and has played a central role in Hamburg's cultural scene for four decades. Founded in 1985, the BIRDLAND inspires with high-calibre live music in an intimate atmosphere.
A place where jazz has lived and breathed for 40 years: When you walk down the steps of Birdland, you enter another world, leave your everyday life behind and soak up the history of the club and the music. A magical place to celebrate life and live music, cosy and intimate with just under 100 seats. Renowned artists and newcomers meet here to celebrate jazz live in all its facets. The atmosphere is approachable and passionate.
Sustainability
What sustainability initiatives does the venue implement?
Sustainability plays a role and we try to work on sustainability issues within the scope of our financial resources. In 2024, together with Zukunft feiern! and the Clubkombinat, we implemented an energy consultation and in 2025, as part of the Future Fund 2.0, we are dedicating ourselves to the topic of sustainability with the further implementation of measures such as changing the electricity provider, renewing the existing ventilation system, improved waste separation at the bar, etc.
