Sustainability
What sustainability initiatives does the venue implement?
The use of reusable glass bottles and reusable cups in the confectionery counter area significantly reduces the amount of waste at Mathäser Filmpalast. Since July 2021, all KINOPOLIS cinemas have only offered reusable glass bottles.
In addition, Mathäser Filmpalast has been offering soft drinks exclusively in reusable cups since November 2021. These are made of one hundred per cent reusable polypropylene (PP), are dishwasher-safe and BPA-free*. By switching to reusable cups, the amount of waste in our cinemas has been reduced by 65 tonnes of disposable cups and a further five tonnes of packaging waste.
No cinema without popcorn! Our popcorn and secondary packaging is made exclusively from recycled paper from certified sustainable forestry. Guaranteed without loss of flavour!
Of course, we have long since replaced plastic straws with drinking straws made from natural fibres. These are not only naturally grown and biodegradable, but also retain their shape for a long time and are tasteless.
We have a long way to go - so we are all the more pleased that our cinema guests are willing to join us on this journey to make the cinema experience more sustainable together.
All our print products are produced in a climate-neutral way. Nevertheless, we look for further potential savings in order to avoid the unnecessary production of waste paper.
The Mathäser Filmpalast has been powered exclusively by green electricity** since June 2021. The electricity is generated 100% ecologically from renewable energy sources such as sun, wind and water. No greenhouse gases such as CO2 are produced and the generation does not contribute to global warming.
We support electric mobility! Electric vehicles are more efficient, quieter and locally emission-free. On our homepage we offer our guests an overview of possible e-charging stations that are located near our cinema.
